It was announced that Dr. Steve Price is a candidate for the Cincinnati Public Schools Superintendent's position. He applied for this once before but was not a finalist. Here's wishing you success in landing that job a second time around, Dr. Price, and a speedy exit from our school system. If you happen to win this position, you win by having an opportunity to direct yet another school system to mediocrity and hopefully, we win by replacing you by acquiring a superintendent that will perform. AND, now we find out that Mr. Price has applied and is a semi-finalist for the Springfield Public Schools super. They're also rated as continuous improvement and will probably remain at that ranking for a long time( if Midd. schools are an indication), if Price is selected. The good doctor is an "icon" of the Continuous Improvement category.

Didn't think of the E-mail thing. Good idea. Hope he keeps applying! Someday we'll get lucky. I've never been a fan of this guy. As a matter of fact, Middletown hasn't had a good super who produced competitive results in proficiency for a very long time. Harry Eastridge,Les Johnson, Price, (there's another in this group but the name escapes me), all were/are in the same cookie cutter mold as Price. Result of hiring the same type of individual- Surprise!!! Same poor results. Imagine that! Guess it all makes sense though as we keep placing the same types of people on the school board and they're responsible for the super hirings. I've said in the past and I'll say it now- I'll buy Price a one way Greyhound bus ticket out of town if he promises not to come back. It's gotta be a cheap bus ticket- he ain't worth the cost for an airplane ride.

Today may be the day!!! Dr. Price may find out he was selected to run the Cincy school system. Let's hope he is the successful candidate! If, not, we always have next week when he will be interviewing for the Springfield school super job. Good luck Dr. Price! Hope you are able to leave Middletown as soon as possible.

Nope- not today! Cincy didn't want the good doctor. Now we await the decision from Springfield. The community is on edge- the tension can be cut with a knife! What will the professionals on our school board do? Will they conduct a talent search for the next Pricemeister?

Perhaps "Moving Middletown Forward" would be willing to help with fund-raising to try to sweeten the "pot" that Springfield can offer Mr. Price???

Well, Mr. Price failed to pass muster at Springfield, so I guess we'll be stuck with him for a while longer. Mr. Sommers (superintendent/CEO of Butler Technology and Career Development Schools) did make the short list, however, and his leaving would actually be a loss for our area. Here's the story from deep in the bowels of The E-Journal:
District names superintendent finalistsBy Megan Gildow | Friday, March 27, 2009, 11:46 AM Three Ohio superintendents will move on to the final round of interviews to be Springfield’s next superintendent. David Estrop, Doug Heuer and Robert Sommers will be in the district next Monday through Wednesday meeting with residents, staff and community and business leaders, said board President Donna Picklesimer. Estrop, currently the superintendent of Cuyahoga County’s Lakewood City Schools, is also a finalist for the superintendent position in Cincinnati. Heuer is currently superintendent of Austintown schools near Youngstown. Sommers is the superintendent/CEO of Butler Technology and Career Development Schools in Hamilton. Look for more in tomorrow’s paper. |

Well I can't wait to see how the good Dr. Price is going to spin yet another year of bad scores and math scores that are worse than last year.
How low can we go?
