Changing insurance saves district $41K

MIDDLETOWN — 

The
Middletown City Schools District changed insurance carriers, a move that will
save taxpayers $41,000 a year, said George Long, business manager.

He
said the district stayed with the same agent, Insurance Associates in Middletown, but changed
from Liberty Mutual to Wright Risk Management for its property, liability and
auto insurance.

Long
said the cost will be $170,152 for the one-year term, a savings of $41,467 from
the previous year’s quotes. He said the coverage mirrors what the district
received with Liberty Mutual.

He
said Insurance Associates invited more bidders and the lowest was Wright Risk,
“a new player” in the school market.
