A 5.0-magnitude earthquake on the border of Ontario and Quebec was felt across Ohio this afternoon. Shockwaves from the temblor, which occurred at 1:41 p.m., were felt Downtown roughly two minutes later, according to seismographs maintained by the U.S. Geological Survey and the state's Ohio Seismic Network. The event lasted a few seconds. "We were kind of on the fringes of it," said Michael C. Hansen, the network coordinator. The Geological Survey reported that people felt the temblor as far away as Cincinnati. |

We felt this
in our office, across the street from the Town Mall. Very strange to feel your building sway like that. |

Looks like most of my staff is reporting that they felt their desks shake. I didn't notice a thing.

I was in our mobile shed which has a shake floor to start with that can give an uneasy footing kind of feel. Immediately after leaving the shed I came back to my office and sat down and still felt a bit shaky, noticed I couldn't focus on my screen (looked shaky). Honestly, thought I needed some caffeine and went and got a Mtn. Dew.

The Canadian report has been retracted. The earthquake was a 5.9 centered about 40 miles outside of Richmond, Virginia. It caused significant shaking in New York City and Washington, D.C., although no immediate reports of major damage have come in.

Naw, randy, you didn't feel the tremor. You're just coming down off the Bengals 2nd loss. Just take something to settle you down and you'll be alright.......until the next loss next week.

An earthquake so near to the anniversary of Elvis's death and the east coast is "All Shook Up"??? Coincidence??? I think not!!!
On Riker's island, the "Jailhouse Rocked"!!! James Bond slept soundly through the whole thing. He was shaken, but not stirred!!! |
