Surprise!  Surprise!

From the MJ:

The Journal to move to a new home

Staff Report 11:08 PM Saturday, February 19, 2011

The Middletown Journal has had several homes in its 154-year history, but it has always been a fixture in downtown Middletown.

On Feb. 28, Middletown’s hometown newspaper will move from 1 N. Main St. in the former Cinergy building — where it called home for the past three years — to its new location at 300 N. Main St., Suite 600.

During the move, there will be no interruption of service, and customers will still be able to place classified ads and have circulation questions answered. Office hours will remain the same, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.

Journal must vacate this location to make room for Cincy State, who may or may not come to the downtown at this rate. Journal is also losing business and subscribers due to a sharp decline in quality journalism. Perhaps revenue decline has forced them into downsizing (moving into a suite???) the space needed to operate. Don't know. Do know that this newspaper has been reduced to a shadow of it's former self, is a court jester for the city leaders and no longer represents the people. Sad epitaph to a once decent publication. Wonder how long the Journal building at First and Broad will stand vacant?
