We appreciate what you tried to accomplish!
The meaning of your resolution flew right over the heads of that ignorant group of union bullies that showed up to secure their strangle hold over the tax payers of Middletown. |

Will the resolution go to Columbus or did the rest of council, once again, do the wrong thing? Most of the crowd seem to be union backers or anti-union stance? The boys and girls wearing the fire and police outfits are bleeding the town dry. Hate to say that because the medics have always provided topnotch responses and care to the hospital. Need to take no raises until we get out of this funky economic downturn. THEN, start with the raise talk. 10/4? Will be interesting to see whether AJ, after his council days, lands a firefighter job for his support for their unions? He's doing a fine job as their spokesperson. Hope being the public voice for the unions is worth it for him in the long run. He's selling out to the max, OR, maybe he's being used with no reward.??????

Our City Council chambers were packed full of Union thugs . About ten imbeciles who obviously didn't understand the resolution (or most likely just didn't care to) got up and bullied Mr. Laubach one after the other.

And Josh's reply to the union mouths was? Wouldn't worry about Mr. Smith. Just a flash in the pan in his council capacity. He's going the wrong way alienating alot of people. Just doesn't know it. A disappointment for sure.

I am very proud of Josh for remaining calm and collected throughout the meeting. I know I wouldn't have, and I had to sit out in the "peanut gallery". Which mind you was very annoying. And I commend Josh for having a backbone.. because the rest of the council members are spineless and would have never done what he did. (well most of the council members)

Thank you Josh you showed the people of Middletucky that you are the only one on Council that has a spine. Im like Joker,I dont think I could of sat there and took it as well as you did.
I loved how the Union Bullies done the same as they done in the "SUNCHOKE" talks, disrupted the meeting flapping there jaws when someone was comeanting. But what do they care, they probaly got paid double, travel, and lodging for that 40 mile trip.Union reps IMO are nothing but theifs.

watched the Council broadcast b4 bugging out 4 Middies bball
Lennie R put it to Admin/ED, then calmly went to Wade E to broadcast the game.
Can't figure out why they make it hard on his crew and want big $$ for land that they were prepared to pretty much give away to Atrium interests. Lennie and his partners will do a quality project, which we need in that area. The legal appeal was a very poor decision, and Ms.G/ED have been deserted by everyone else involved including Council. Council had to know about all of this. Why is Admin/ED handing out free $$ and properties in the former downtown area consistently, and fighting the Robinson group so intently?
Mystery to me.
I thought that Josh maintained his composure extremely well under very difficult circumstances.
His premise is very sound, and he held his ground.
The rest of Council pretty much hid under their desk.
This was only a symbolic resolution to the state. Still not really necessary or meaningful.
Many of the comment people made very good.legit points.
Once you begin to give back......destruction of what is left of "middle class"....
Still--the insults were hardly necessary from older speakers who claimed to be "knowledgeable professionals". Amazed at how few of them were citizens--where were our key "stakeholder" citizens?
The Chamber? MMF? So much for the 3-minute time limit--remember that when YOUR important issue merits a trip to the podium.
A very difficult situation up-coming in 2 years(or less).
I surely don't want to see less public safety personel, though as Josh repeated--the costs are skyrocketing while manpower has diminished. Simply un-sustainable by union or management standards. The next round of arbitration will be crucial and very interesting. Seems Mr.Becker could have voiced a very experienced opinion. If Council/Admin don't live up to their public safety levy promises, then I will be hard-pressed to support a renewal.
Over the weekend, I had an encounter with a downtown "stakeholder"(tied to the Mtown troll?)
They were very upset with my posting concerning how $$ and property were being passed out freely in the former downtown area. They maintained that I did not know my facts and had in-accurately portrayed an area business. They went on to explain that they had an interest-free loan from the city, that would have to be repaid eventually , and had even had to invest THEIR OWN MONEY in their project. I reminded this individual that I had three local businesses financed 100% by our own $$, and really didn't think that qualified me for any consideration out of the norm.
Don't think that I made a friend that evening--sorry to say.
So Josh---I will buy a round next time that we run into each other.
Regardless of feelings on the matter, you were a true professional, far more mature and responsive than your peers in the room.

Spider are there more Middle Class in Unions or the private Sector funding the unions? I would venture an educated guess that their are more in the Private Sector who are constantly having their taxes raised to benefit the Public Unions. So just which Middle class is being destroyed?????????????????????
There are approximately 7.9 million workers in Public Unions and approximately 7.4 million workers in Private unions which leaves about 300 million non-union people in the USA, now of course they are not all Middle Class but you get the idea, The Union members are in the minority.
I agree with you on Lenny, I don't get the cities deal with that mess. They jump up and down to give away our money downtown and then you have a group that wants to spend their money on a project on the East End and they throw every road block in the book at them......Go Figure. Business friendly yeah only if you manage to get into the downtown click.
