I hope all the idiots that voted this crook in are very happy with the results of thier stupidity. How can this even be considered ? Not to mention the fact that 20-30 million and counting illegal immigrants and growing as I am sure they are busting thier asses to get to the USA any way they can right now because every person in a third world country has a big chance to hit the lottery.Tell me this isn't being considered . I hope all of you can forget about the school levies and the City budget long enough to e-mail,fax or call these SOBs in washington DC and tell them what you think about them hijacking our democracy. With 30 million plus illegals being able to get work permits and work here legaly how do you think Americans wil be able to feed thier families? Obama truly does not put Americans first !
Source: Administration Weighs Bypassing Congress to Let Illegal Immigrants StayBy Judson Berger Published June 24, 2010 | FOXNews.com The Obama administration has been holding behind-the-scenes talks to determine whether the Department of Homeland Security can unilaterally grant legal status on a mass basis to illegal immigrants, a former Bush administration official who spoke with at least three people involved in those talks told FoxNews.com. The issue was raised publicly by eight Republican senators who wrote to the White House on Monday to complain that they had heard the administration was readying a "Plan B" in case a comprehensive immigration reform bill cannot win enough support to clear Congress. The White House would not confirm or deny the claim. But the former Bush official said the discussions are real. "The administration at the very minimum is studying legal ways to legalize people without having to go through any congressional debate about it," the source said, calling the senators' claim credible. "Whether somebody pulls the trigger on that, that's another issue." The senators -- Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa; Orrin Hatch, R-Utah; David Vitter, R-La.; Jim Bunning, R-Ky.; Saxby Chambliss, Ga.; Johnny Isakson, R-Ga.; James Inhofe, R-Okla.; and Thad Cochran, R-Miss. -- claimed in their letter that the administration was looking at extending what is known as deferred action or parole to millions of illegal aliens in the United States. < id=ifr-qu_story_2 height=184 border=0 Border=0 width=190 scrolling=no> The former official said it's unclear what specific avenues the administration is considering, but that one potentially feasible option would be to use either deferred action or parole to legalize at once the millions of immigrants who have overstayed their visas -- not necessarily those who crossed the border illegally. Deferred action and parole would give illegal immigrants the ability to seek a work permit and temporary legal status. Those two tools are usually used on a case-by-case basis. The former official said any move to broaden that authority and use it on a mass basis would be "woefully inappropriate," though politically brilliant. The Republican senators who wrote to President Obama expressed a similar view. They wrote that any unilateral action would "further erode the American public's confidence in the federal government and its commitment to securing the borders and enforcing the laws already on the books." The discussions of blanket legalization come in the middle of several concurrent and heated debates over illegal immigration. The recently signed immigration law in Arizona has divided the country, with some states trying to replicate the state's tough legislation and other jurisdictions boycotting the state in protest. The Obama administration plans to file a court challenge. Democrats, meanwhile, have been trying to round up support for an overhaul bill in Congress |

Oh he-- no!!!! A blanket inclusion policy to let 'em all stay? With that, we get the criminals, the ones who will cause nothing but trouble, we won't be able to screen them...... Ironic- we screen people who get on airplanes for bombs and other terrorist activities and have a list to consult for known terrorists. Now, they want to blanket approve this large group of illegals and just allow them to walk right into the country unchecked? Kinda defeats the purpose of screening, strip searches and all the precautionary things we do to monitor people doesn't it? How can they be so concerned about who comes and goes at the airport and turn around and let unchecked illegals just walk into the country unchecked? Illogical. The people in the Obama administration that are coming up with this crap need to be relieved of their duties. We don't need "deferred action and parole" to give illegals the ability to work and seek temporary legal status in this country. We need a program to purge these people as they are a strain on the schools, the medical community and the country as a whole. JMO

Vet I agree with you....there is a double standard here. How many of those "illegals" are Palestinians,Iranians,Afghan terrorist ? How many are Mexican drug lords ? An across the board amnesty, without knowing who these people are,is insane at best. But it does,IMO,confirm the North American Union . The next step will be for Obama or whoever to say "Ok we have 30 million unknown illegals allgedly from Mexico already here so lets just tear down the fence and open up to no more borders".
This could be one reason for government healthcare.....the illegals that are here and coming will be covered and have free healthcare at the expense of the American taxpayer. You know that employer provided healthcare won't include illegals nor would their $3 an hour pay cover healthcare.
I think what we are seeing by Corporate America is a 100% reversal back to what America was in the early 20th century. No unions...pay at absolute minimums....no healthcare....no OSHA...no rules what so ever for the poor working immigrants, but all paid for at the expense of the American worker. When Bush was prez he said,"The illegals will take the jobs that Americans won't do", Americans can't live on $3 an hour nor do Americans live 30 people to a household !!
I see only two reasons for allowing illegals to stay....1. Cheap labor 2. Dissolving the borders between Mexico,Canada and the U.S. thus creating the North American Union.

Hermes- I'd like to add #3 here for bringing in illegals to stay..... to register them to vote for Bama in 2012.
As time goes by, I am getting a tad bit frustrated with the Bama administration on their stand on illegals. Completely disagree with the saturation of illegals for the reasons already disussed here. Too much burden on our schools, medical system and our social services. ie.....to much of a burden on us taxpayers. To bring them in unchecked is just asking for more problems. What the he-- is this focus on helping these "poor oppressed people" while totally screwing the majority of us mainstream working people? Going to re-register as an independent soon. Had enough of the Dem ideas of catering to freeloaders and illegals and would not register as a Repub. Too much big business support for my liking. Let's put it this way. If P&G likes the Repubs, it can't be good for me as I hate anything and everything about that company. Just venting here. |

Just think when 20 million (or only god knows how many) illegal immigrants are made legal and can sign up for obamacare, section 8,free college tuition, food stamps etc etc... Just who is going to be paying for it? And I am willing to bet that we are being flooded as I type this by more illegals trying to get here asap so they too can partake in this give away of our system. I believe that all obama and his socialist party truly care about is ensuring that enough voters vote democrat so that they can dominate politics for years to come. This talk proves to me that they do not care about Americans.Time to take out the trash in November and again in 2012.

Number 2....if THEY is the government then how come THEY are not charged with a crime for not enforcing our law's ??!!! Number 3...what makes the government so sure these 30 million are only from Mexico ? (And I've heard politicians say 20-30 million Mexicans)

Is it just me, or does anyone else find it amazing that during the mad cow epidemic our government could track a single cow, born in Canada almost three years ago, right to the stall where she slept in the state of Washington? And, they tracked her calves to their stalls. But they are unable to locate 30 million illegal aliens wandering around our country. Maybe we should give each of them a cow. |

Agree totally with your last post, Nick. Just yesterday I was talking with Miss Vivian about the efforts you two have made trying to bring the secrecy of the City's infamous Sewer Fund to the light of day.
I hope that you're doing fine and keep shooting those cannon balls across the bow of the not-so-good Ship Gilliland.

Even Newt claims 10-20 million illegals in country....but what none of them can explain apperantly is HOW DO THEY KNOW ?? And like Newt says ship them a package, how can you ship a package to an illegal if YOU HAVE NO IDEA THEY ARE ILLEGAL & DON'T KNOW WHERE THEY ARE TO ARREST THEM ??!!!
I'm telling you folks, this immigration thing is a farce.

Don't believe everything your government tells you. Just like immigration, this too was no doubt a farce. Just like swine flu, sure some people got it and some died but it was no where near the alleged epidemic that they claimed. A disclaimer and warning should be required of everything the government & WHO puts out.

Hermes I seriously doubt it is a farce as the affects can be seen most widely in our Social Programs, education, healthcare, prisons, etc.. There also may be less than the number that is bantered around which is 10-30 Million. The Obama admin uses about 8-12 Million I believe under the assumption that many returned to Mexico when the economy went south.
The Newt Video is about 3-4 years old made back during the Bush Term.
It must also be noted that while most come from Central and South American, some also come from other countries.
This gentlemen didn't think it was a farce and now he is dead killed by Illegals crossing the border.

Pac - I had read about the rancher that was murdered, thats pretty sad.
I don't dispute the fact that illegals are in country...what I dispute is the number. Now if the number of illegals comes from the number deported & arrested then no problem, but thats not what the politicians are saying. And reference my previous postings...how does anyone come up with 10-30 million ?? And if they know it to be a fact, and I seriously doubt that, then someone should lose his/her job and go to prison ! Because they did not do their job to stop and arrest/deport these alleged illegals. Plus as you said if they garner the numbers from social programs, education etc,etc then these people should go to prison too because they let illegals into the school system, gave them social benefits, etc etc. There is something amiss here, none of what they are saying makes any sense. I'm not defending the illegals,I believe if caught they should be deported, but there is no way anyone can come up with a number of illegals unless that number is nothing more than a guess or based on the one's who were caught and even then if 5 million are caught and they claim the number is 20 million then someone is insane. And if the number is taken country wide from police,ICE & sheriff's departments who have arrested illegals and if that number totals 20 million for example that were arrested then problem solved, but thats not whats happening. Bottom line,IMO,since illegals are not registered with social security, immigration, license bureau, etc etc there is no way, absolutely no way of knowing exactly how many illegals are in country. So the number of 10-30 million is either to low or to high because they have no idea and do not have the balls to say so and or the government has an agenda thats being kept from the public.

The problem with Illegal Immigration is that BOTH Parties secretly like it. The last amnesty was in 1986 under George HW Bush, Republican President.
The Dems like the fact that most Illegals will vote Liberal and the GOP likes the cheap Labor. As to tracking, unless we all want a Police State, that is not going to happen. The answer lies in punishing Employers that employ Illegals. We have to use common sense and quit letting them off the hook for any lame excuse. When Koch Foods was raided and found to have 160 illegals out of 180 employees, common sense would have told us that they knew what they doing. Instead the Government let them plead ignorance and then fined them 500K, a paltry sum given the money that they saved exploiting the illegals all those years. Make it a Felon and put some Corp Execs in Jail and it will stop. |

Hermes its real,I dont get where you are coming from at all are you trying to blow the issue off like its not really there? Just look at the big response from illegals last weekend when over 400 showed up in Hamilton to get the Id cards that the mexican government was passing out.Thats 400+ jobs that Americans could use not to mention all the free benefits the illegals are sucking up,and oh yea that 400 wouldnt include the illegals in the area that are not mexicans.

Bo - I think everyone may have tunnel vision on trying to figure out my point.
I can't simplify it further, so the question stands, How do they know ? And by the way,I looked at the DHS (Department of Homeland Security) web site to see how they come up with the numbers, you know the line in Forrest Gump where he says,"Stupid is as stupid does",well it applies to Homeland Security and the IDIOTS who run it.
