Whether you agreed with Mr. Armbruster or not, as I often did, no one wanted this to happen. A genuinely good man and cared about the city. Hard to sit back and watch some of the faces you grew up with leaving us. Almost a "lonely" feeling, isn't it?

As I read the article, I realize that there needs to be appropriate time to mourn and show respect for the Armbruster family, as it should be. I also am thinking about the delay that Mulligan talks about in choosing a new 1st Ward representative. With Mr. Armbruster not seated, the council becomes six members and represents a potential gridlocked situation on any important upcoming decisions that are made. How does that work if that should happen before they select a new 1st Ward rep? Who votes to break the gridlock?

not looking forward to Mr. Barge's potential arrival.  All that will be talked about is the canal.

Don't know if Gary will be selected to fill the slot, Bill. Gary has let them know he is available but I would bet that Mulligan, Becker, and Picard will shoot that down as he is probably perceived as identifying with this camp. I would guess that these three councilpeople don't want anyone who would appear to identify with us. It will be interesting to see who they come up with if Gary is ignored. I'm betting an MMF supporter just waiting in the wings.

I know he was known for years as being a less than diligent worker in the car repair business, and he is on disability, so will he be able to keep up with the grueling council schedule?

I am opinionated on many topics, but think any discussions about Mr. Armbruster's successor are really premature and rather tasteless. The man should be honored, celebrated, and mourned by those who knew him. It is dishonoring him and any replacement candidate to speculate about who will replace him, and what their qualifications to be. I doubt if anything negative will occur during the period the man's life is celebrated. JMO.  I also have no knowledge of Mr. Barg and his previous business, but I think it to be harsh to slap him around about having broken a back and being on disability. Why not let Mr. Mr. Armbruster's family mourn, and in a few weeks, let politics regain its footing?

Acclaro is correct!!!

There is a time for everything.  This is a time for Mr. Armbruster's family.

There will be a time for political and civic affairs soon enough.

This is very correct, everyone should let this alone and honor Jim Armbruster and family.
