Middletown schools moves toward $18.3 M levy
By Staff Report 9:20 AM Tuesday, December 22, 2009 MIDDLETOWN — The Middletown Board of Education passed the first of two resolutions to place an $18.3 million operating levy on the ballot for next year, according to school district spokeswoman Debbie Alberico. Board members passed the resolution unanimously Monday night, Dec. 21. The new levy will replace two existing emergency operating levies that expire at the end 2010, according to Alberico. |

EMERGENCY levies are for a one time basis only (just to bail us out of a tight situation, so they say)........ that's what the school levy supporters and admin. will tell you every time. Then, magically, when the EMERGENCY- one time usage levy has expired, it becomes a RENEWAL levy, starting the trend toward making it a PERMANENT levy, staying on the books and affecting your property taxes forever. This is a game that the school people run on the property owner every time. Sometimes this game works in their favor----- sometimes it doesn't. If it doesn't, they will try until they beat the public into submission and it is approved. Please help everyone stay in their homes (and don't reward them until they improve their performance) by voting these money draining/budget busting levies down. Ask yourself a question-In the last 20 years, with all the levies that have been approved, has the Middletown school performance gotten better or worse versus the money you have given them and do you think you have gotten a good return on your investment in this system. If not, why in the world would you keep spending good money after bad? Would you keep investing in a money losing, underperforming stock?

Some where on the board here I said that the school would want more money, not exactly ESP but I think everyone seen it coming. When you factor in the money the board spent paying THREE superintendents at the same time, hey what do you expect ! Plus you know big pay raises are coming down the pike, another needed expense.
But just think when the casinos are built and the money is pouring into the state coffers that will be the end of levies for schools !! Cause you know how politicians love spending money on schools. Look at how the lottery helps schools.
So things are looking good ! We'll have a new super, probably in 2011 we'll have all new schools built, we might even get a brand new football stadium !! But if we do that then the Middies will need new uniforms & equipment. Myabe we can get the Bengals to come here and use the new stadium as a practice field !!
I'm excited !! New things await us in the coming decade !!!

Now, Hermes, we can't have the Bengals come to town to use the new football stadium. For cryin' out loud, we've got enough of a headache with the neighboring townspeople laughing at the town's image now, without bringing in more to laugh at with them Bengals! And we don't want them using Barnitz Stadium either because Barnitz is a place with a history of winning football and we don't want that tainted with the scent of a historically losing football franchise, do we?
WHO DEY, WHO DEY, WHO DEM BENGALS THINK THEY"RE GONNA BEAT? Sounds better- right Hermes! |
