QUOTE=MMF rules!]new faces? who do you think put them there?
we stopped citizen comments once, we'll do it again if presta and the other loudmouths keep talking. [/QUOTE]
So what your saying is that you and your group decided to get rid of Marconi and placed Laubach there, and gave Smith along with Picard their seats? I would love to hear their thoughts on this. I find it funny that you can call people names and tell them to shut up from behind a screen name, aren't you tough! You might just be the biggest loser to post on this site. Those are big shoes to fill.

If this person is serious then their group needs to be legally investigated. They have an awful big mouth and ego. This just confirms what most people say about the inner working/behind the scenes actions going on in Middletown. MMF rules should remember the old saying "what goes around comes around"

Here are a few comments from The Middletown Journal website: http://www.middletownjournal.com/news/election/20-year-old-becomes-youngest-ever-middletown-councilman-382332.html?more_comments=true&showComments=true&page=2To the victors belong the spoils, I guess, and the "bragging rights", too!!! **************************************************** Glad to see our plan worked. Only Mike Presta figured out our cabal, but he was powerless to stop it. Muhahaha. Hip Hip Hooray for the MMF **************************************************** ha! You mean the intellectual-wannabes from the MUSA group. That group loves to run their mouths and stir up controversy because none of them have lives outside the MUSA blog. They can't figure out that their conspiracy theories get old real quick, and people get tired of the "half-truths" they continually post. It's funny how that group considers those who don't adhear to their misguided theories as the "Haves" vs.the "Have Nots"(them.) What a sad, sad little group. You lurking out there yet MP? waiting to be enlightened ***************************************************** on MiddletownUSA, you must mean Nelson Self's angry rants? Does this guy really care about Middletown? I don't think so. He came here from, where, Missouri? Why? For a job. When's he leaving? As soon as he gets another one elsewhere. He's posting his "inside info" as a bitter ex employee of the city. by "behind the scenes info" **************************************************** What a city - I tend to agree with Waiting To Be Enlightened's comment. I read the USA site quite often, and I stopped subscribing to MJ long ago because of their newsless news policy. These are two extremes, and the truth lies somewhere in the middle. I know a number of the USA regulars quite well, and while I agree that changes must be made in our city, their "you're either with us or against us" mentality is a real turn-off for many, including myself. rjm |

To Judy Gilleland, Doug Adkins, Ed Richter, Etc. -
I welcome senior City staff members, etc. to provide factual information that contradicts what I, other Community Revitalization Department staff (identities withheld) and former HUD Consolidated Planning Committee members have shared about HUD-funded programs with MiddletownUSA readers.
I continue to wait for a documented reply!

By the way "behind the scenes info," I continue to live in the City of Middletown. None of the three top Community Revitalization Department staff can say that. Furthermore, two-thirds of the Community Development, Neighborhood Services and Building Inspection division staff live outside of the City of Middletown. How do you respond to this?

I dunno Murdock
His "inside info" seems to be informative and possibly accurate.
By your logic, Mr.Michel isn't from here, and seems to be an "expert" on what needs to be done here also.
Like cutting down the big elms at Douglass.
Who approved and paid for that activity?

Spider- speaking of Mr. Michel--- where did this guy come from? Seems he just showed up one day out of the blue and became some kind of spokesman for the MMF'ers and the Highlands area. The Journal is always giving him press as if the majority of people in this town give a crap what he thinks. This guy is a landscape designer and he's become the self-imposed leader for the power boys in town??? This doesn't fit together does it? What's his background that connects him to the Dark Side-Evil Empire people? He seems to take the city's position on alot of things. One of their puppets perhaps?

Murdock- if the man didn't care about the town, wouldn't he have already packed up and left? He is providing the people some insider information that we would not have otherwise been informed of. As for your "bitter ex-employee" comment- did it ever occur to you that the city could have given him a raw deal and released him, not on his job performance but rather, his decision to take the moral high ground and his choice not to participate in their potentially illegal activity? I like the term always used about a "disgruntled or bitter employee" Notice, it's always the EMPLOYEE that is to blame for the separation/bitterness- never the frikkin' employer. No- employers never are the bad guys are they?
No- he's alot more Murdock- he's a person who wanted to do the right thing but was not allowed to by Gilleland and company and he paid the price for having some decency about him. Gilleland and the people you are defending are the problem. They are the ones with credibility/ moral high ground issues. You just haven't figured that out yet. |

correct, Mr.Vet
OK Murdock--what is your assesssment of our planning dept. and their actions over the last ten years?
What projects have worked?
Which have failed?
Do you have an estimate on the tax $$ spent on the area formerly known as "downtown", and how would you assess the results?
How about the "planning" on the east end?
Particularly the Towne Mall area and the recent fiasco over the land directly east?
Wasn't it all REALLY a ploy by Mr.Kohler to force property values down so the land would be sold cheaply to Atrium-related concerns?
What about the K Mart center and the area directly across vacated by Aldi, donuts, lottery, BBQ Junction et al??
The old Hills center?
The S.University Savealot center?
The old Wards building and vacant adjoining strip?

Thank goodness you people aren't the official Welcome Wagon to newcomers.
The man hasn't lived in Middletown long, but I am encouraged by the fact he wants to be actively involved in the community. I mean there are people who have lived in Middletown for 40 years who have done nothing but sit on their butts and complain.
You may not like his stances (i.e. Ward system), but at least he's trying to be involved and make a difference.

You are correct swohio75, I, for one, wouldn't make a good host for the welcome wagon in this town. I tend to get a little irritated with those that have recently come to town and have immediately aligned themselves with the small faction of people who's agenda seems to be secretive and exclusionary to the majority who live here. I also take exception to those who are willing to ruin a town by driving a once thriving community into the ground just to satisfy their own personal agenda. It would appear, based on the recent ward petition event and the sudden Highlands Historical formation that Michel is in camp with this same small faction. Can't figure out whether he is actually taken seriously by this group or is merely being used as a mouthpiece/puppet for their wishes. Also don't understand why the Journal has decided to hang on to his every word as he appears to just be a face in the crowd.
It's ok to be active in the community. No one is questioning his desire to be active. What is being questioned is if this "desire" is self motivated or was he asked to lobby for the MMF'ers or other "power people"??? |

Its good to see my post take on so much life. I must say a thing or two about what I am reading. First: Murdock, it sounds like you have some personal issues with Mr. Self and Mr. Barge. At least they are trying to bring some things to life. You are a moron and all you do is talk down to people here. It's almost laughable. If you dont the canal is a issue or that bad go move by it, maybe since you like to kiss Armbrusters *&% you can ask him to go over to the canal and plant come trees and flowers. then it will be hiding, out of site out of mind.
swohio75: I do agree that Vet can be a bit negative , but he does make good points. If Mr. Michel cared so much about Middletown then why didn't he run for council? he did pull a petition but didn't file. Why not? He does not care about Middletown as a whole, he cares about the Highlands. All you have to do is watch one of the videos posted here (cant remember where) he talks about cars being broke into in his precious Highlands distract. What can he do to protect "OUR" area he says. Look around Jeffy its happening all over town, why not ask what Can we do to stop it in all the Neighborhoods, not Just yours!! And for the record I live three blocks from Mr. Jeffy and trust me he does not care about Middletown he cares about himself!! Thats A FACT

Well it appears that the majority of those who voted in this last election agree with his position on the Ward system.
I do believe the Highlands Historic District would have been formed with or without Michel. Speaking of which, Merrell Wood probably still is bitter that the city would not let him turn the home (WW Sebald home) into a bed and breakfast a couple of years ago when he wanted to purchase it.
Michel appears to be using his area of expertise though to benefit the city, as he has been active in the KMB and Tree Commission. I will say, though, from some of his presentations that I watch, he does seem to be a little rough around the edges, and I can see why some may have the opinion of him that they do.

The ward system is not that big a deal. I agree that the city feels the same way. As for a Tree Commission, what is it with people and trees in this town. As for KMB, they are doing a great job look at downtown isn't beautiful. Should be called keep the East end Beautiful. do people really believe that planting trees and flowers is what this town needs? Lets see some real action in this town.

You want to be kettle or pot?
You blast Murdock for having "personal issues" with Self and Barge and then make it sound you have some personal issues with Michel yourself.

There is a LOT of good to Mr.Michel.
I have no problem with his "district", and the door is now open for any other area to do the same and expect similar red carpet treatment from the city. The guy is a knowledgeable landscaper from what I can tell.
Strange thing is that he really didn't understand this ward petition or even know the wording(of a petition that he supposedly authored). I don't believe Council passed the same version anyway. Mr.Michel cares about the city in his own sort of way, and when the power brokers needed a fresh face front man, he was a natural. The guy thinks that he is doing the right thing, and you can't fault anyone for trying to "help". Kinda like the Gillian Welch song "I wanna do right, but not right now". The guy is open to listen and does listen. He is good conversation.
Bottom line--he couldn't pull off a simple petition despite the seriously organized power help of many "big names"(the local right wing version of Acorn). As one of the 12,000 registered voters who chose to ignore or not sign the petition, I feel very slighted by Mr.Landen, Admin and Council(particularly Mr.Schiavone). I don't know exactly who Council/legal was representing with that bizarre meeting/vote, but it DEFINITELY wasn't the majority of registered voters.
But the issue was passed and I accept the result. We will deal with it in an appropriate manner.
Ward or at-large--we must choose the right people for the ENTIRE community, and not a homogenic thinking group.
jmo--Let's don't annoint or crucify Mr.Michel. He is just another opinionated local.
