Journal- June 13- OKI grants $34 million for area cities for road improvements. Mentioned is Fairfield at $7.9 million for Gilmore Ave. Bypass 4 around Hamilton is mentioned in the article. Middletown is not mentioned. Middletown needs to improve the city roads and is looking for revenue. What happened and why wasn't Middletown given a portion of the $34 million? Did Middletown qualify? Did the Middletown city government know about the OKI money? Did Middletown try to take advantage of this opportunity? If not, why not? Where were the Public Works management people and the city Engineer on this? How about the City Manager? Did anyone on the Street Committee know about this? Mr. Becker- Mr. Marconi?

Most of the OKI grants were to widen high traffic congested roads.
