I would have put Pete in the #1 slot as well, but I'm okay with most of the list there.
Bench tied for #2 I agree with, behind Yogi Berra he's the best catcher in the modern era to play the game. The numbers support it too. In 17 years, all with the Redlegs, he has some impressive honors to his name:

When reviewing this list, hard to identify with the older players earlier than the Nuxhall/Burgess/Temple/Klu Crosley Field era of the 50's for me. Never saw any of them play before that timeframe. Too many good players listed in too many positions to have one player that really excels. Darn near anyone on the Big Red Machine teams would qualify. Good players in all positions. Guess I would pick Rose. I look at it as "if I had to choose one player that has the overall skills to win with talent, enthusiasm, hustle, timely hits, a "winner" year in and year out, a "blood" player giving it his all, all the time, he would be the one I would choose. You could place him in any position (except pitcher/catcher) and know you would be getting the maximum effort on every play. Gus Bell, Wally Post, Bench, Pinson, Griffey, Frank Robinson, all great players in their era. Adam Dunn.....not so impressive. Struck out too much in key situations. Sean Casey....nice guy....not in the upper echelon with this group IMO.
