The Middies basketball and football teams continue to be one of the few bright spots for our town.

MIDDLETOWN — Moeller’s boys basketball team, ranked No. 1 in Ohio, should’ve driven past Exit 32.

Last week, the Crusaders escaped Fenwick, a Division II team, with a 41-37 victory.

They weren’t so lucky Tuesday.

Middletown, winners of seven straight, outplayed the state’s top-ranked Division I from start to buzzer and cruised to a 65-45 win at Wade E. Miller Gym.

If only we could read some comparable good news coming out of our city building, our schools and council once in awhile. Sadly, it hasn't happened in years.

Winton Woods put it to the Middies yesterday. Apparently, not competitive in this one. Now, we can look toward this coming August when the football team cranks up again. Hope the new ex-Winton Woods coach can keep the Krause winning tradition going. Would hate to see them slip back toward .500 again.

Nice job this year on the hardwood. Ronai seems to field a decent team DEFENSIVELY every year. The defense is always good but the rebounding and shooting is always the Achilles Heel of his teams.

Still, all and all, a good basketball season for the Middies.

The Middies (18-5) ended their season on a 10-game winning streak. They beat Moeller and Lakota East during the final week of the regular season.

this season's schedule included:
Mason(lost in ot)
Lakota East twice(split--their only loss so far)
3 games vs.top teams in Ky.(won 2 of 3--lost to #1` team in ky on their court)
Princeton(won)
Moeller(their 1st loss--were #1 in state)
Walnut Hills twice(beat them twice--good team)
Winton Woods(rated above us--disappointing effort)

A great season with many strong efforts
Credit to the players and coaching staff
Still need to win something eventually
Can't teach shooting
Small vs. top teams
Super defensively

Great year for Fenwick also
