Well, Miss Judy sure made multiple promises, didn't she? How about the promise made to Gary Barge, etc. in addressing the problems with the Hydraulic Canal? This is yet another classic case of bureaucratic pontification that resulted in so few real accomplishments. The One Donham Abbey re-branding campaign should have stated, "Middletown, a proud past and a future of hollow promises."

It is time for City Hall and Council to start taking action on the other problem areas of the city other than THEIR DOWNTOWN DREAM and stop kicking all these cans down the road. |

For the life of me, how can the city throw out the rhetoric about downtown revitalization and attracting upper mobility professionals downtown, around a future microbrewery, and upscale restaurants, when it is fact AKS still is a major pollutant in spite of scrubbers and technological advances, and stagnant water has sat for many years, within the very perimeter of the downtown area in its most upscale streets. Isn't it quite ironic The Canal House restaurant is named after a canal that within a short distance, is filled with pollution ridden, stagnant water. Occasionally, speechless. Walk outside Buck;s restaurant, and you'll find homeless individuals, prostitutes, and unsavory folks just a block from BV, Murphy's Landing, and the Canal House. What bizarre contradictions.

Acclaro and Miss Vivian, so many of Middletown's decision makers reside in "The Twilight Zone" when it comes municipal government policy and plan development, cost-effective fiscal management, and so much else. The current leaders enable and ensure "Hollow Promises for the Future."
