If you get up close you can read the inscription on the statue:
"ARMCO Spirit is a comprehensive vital force which finds expression in the practical application of policies builded on a platform of christian principles in which selfish purpose has no place." George M. Verity who moved ARMCO Steel to Middletown in 1901.
George has been left behind since the company moved to West Chester earlier this year.
This begs the question: What will become of George's statue? Move it to the new company headquarters in West Chester? Move it to a park in Middletown? Move it to the Arts Center?
I just called Allan McCoy, AK Steel spokesperson what will become of George's statue. I will publish his answer when I hear back from Mr. McCoy.
