Weekly Update to City Council
from the City Manager
October 31, 2008
Propane Incident
On 10/29 we responded to a motor vehicle accident at 3400 block of Oxford State Road involving a semi tanker carrying 9,000 gallons of propane.  Fire units established command, performed an assessment, requested emergency support, established safety zones, mitigated the leak and remained on site until the roadway could be returned to service. No explosions, no injuries, no deaths…great job by both fire and police departments.

Economic Development Program Manager
I am pleased to announce that Denise Hamet will join our staff, pending confirmation on Tuesday by council.  Denise holds an MBA from Arizona State U., where she graduated with honors, she has a great deal of experience in economic development incentives, TIFs, JEDDs, etc.  We are excited to add Denise to our team; she was selected by a committee comprised of staff members and representatives of the business community.

Budget presentation
We plan to wrap up the 2009 budget presentation on Tuesday.  If any member of council would like any more information on anything we have presented or will be presenting, please email me and we will send the info out.  In addition we will review the police and fire comp data that Ms. Scott Jones requested at the last meeting.

Halloween at City Hall
I’m not sure who had more fun…the employees or the kids who came through city hall trick or treat.  This is such a great and safe event for the community – we had a couple of thousand people through.  City hall took on a whole new look with the décor done by employees mostly during their own time….it was a pretty scary place.
