Weekly Update to City Council October 10, 2008
Wednesday, October 15, 2008 2:00:26 PM - Middletown Ohio
Towne Mall

Towne Mall owners called me this week.    They have asked what the city can do to assist them.  Not that we have any wherewithal to assist but I have asked them to put together some figures for me.  They continue to try to gain new business.  We will continue to insure the property is kept looking nice.

Duke Energy Foundation Grant

Duke Energy has granted the Tree Comm. $2,000 for new trees in our parks and educational programming.  We are certainly appreciative of this generous gift.

Economic Development Program Manager

The final 3 applicants will be interviewed next week.

Economic Development Director

The job ad is being prepared for placement in the next week.

Time Warner Rate Increase

Effective October 8, Time Warner will increase rates.  Basic will increase from 10.35 to $11.35/month, Standard will increase from $40.03 to $44.13/month.   Time Warner is notifying customers.   Customers who have questions should call Time Warner at 1-513-489-1112.

Middfest

This was my first Middfest and I was impressed with many elements of the festival. The hard work of the volunteers and staff of Middfest is appreciated.  As Council knows, this festival continues to be supported by the City.  In addition to the $10,000 cash contribution, we also provide $10,000 cash in postage and copying costs.  Our City crews also work 3 weeks prior to the festival and a week afterward.  This is a significant commitment of city resources and staff that we may want to discuss.

Upcoming Events
October 14    Board of Health meeting, 7:30 a.m., Conference Room 2C
October 15    Warren County Municipal League, 6:00 p.m., Shaker Run
October 16    Public Safety meeting, 3:00 p.m., Police Training Room
October 16    Finance Sub-Committee meeting, 4:30 p.m., Conference Room 2B
October 21    City Council meeting, 5:30 p.m., Council Chambers

Have a great week!
Judy
