Middletown Police Division
Sergeants Dave Birk, Ric Bowling and Andy Warrick attended the OTOA Training Conference in Canton, Ohio for Special Response Team Commanders. The training focuses on Leadership, Barricading, Hostage Situations, School Shooting Incident Command and Operational Debriefing. The three Sergeants are taking over command of the team in Middletown due to Lt John Magill stepping down from the SRT after twenty years of outstanding service. The training conference also used practical exercises with live fire and certified training instruction. This training will enable a smooth transition in the supervision of the SRT.
Middletown Division of Fire
Tim Scott (Apparatus Operator) recently attended classes at the Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC) in Indianapolis, IN. The annual conference is the largest of its kind in the United States and features instruction by recognized leaders in today’s fire service. Tim attended “Aerial and Tower Operations,” a course highlighting the proper and safe deployment of ladder trucks at emergency scenes. Tim will be teaching an abridged version of the course to all Middletown Fire personnel in the near future. The “teach back” process provides maximum return on investment; benefiting the individual, the organization and ultimately the community.
