Two legends from Middletown High School will honored this weekend. They are Paul Walker and James Henry Brown. Walker was the Middies boys’ basketball coach and led them to five state championships. Brown graduated from Middletown High School in 1985. He was the equipment manager for the Middies. Brown was only 43 when he died after a hernia surgery and Walker who was 88 passed away in July of 1999. The Teen Mentoring Committee wanted to add Brown’s name to the Paul Walker Classic Luncheon. It will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2008 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Vail Middle School in the cafeteria.
The luncheon will be for the boy’s basketball teams that are playing in the Paul Walker Classic on Friday, December 5th and Saturday, December 6th. James Ewers said that brown was an “all time hero.” Brown deserves the award fro always being there for the Middies. This award will hopefully keep Brown well-known in what he did for the Middies.
James Brown’s parents will be awarded a plaque during the luncheon. Kee Edwards who is a former Middie basketball player and Rosa Parks Elementary School Principal will be the speaker for the event.
