Black Friday is always the Friday after Thanksgiving, which is always anywhere from November 23rd and the latest being November 29th. Black Friday is not an official holiday but a lot of shoppers take off work to go shopping as some stores open at 4 and 5 a.m.
Many stores have doorbuster deals to attract more customers early. The term Black Friday is known to have started in the 1960’s and is known to be the unofficial start of the Christmas season. It is known to go along with the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade. The parade is on Thanksgiving Day every year and goes through New York City starting at 9 a.m.
The actual term “Black Friday” came from Philadelphia when there was heavy traffic on that certain day. More so today merchants have been using the term to refer to retailers that are in the black.
Shoppers will line up for hours just to get that one sale that they want. As soon as these stores open people are rushing everywhere to get what before it is gone. Electronics and toys are usually the most common that people go after. Most of the shopping on Black Friday is intended for Christmas shopping.
