After one week in business the Middletown Coin Connection says they are “very satisfied” with the way business has been, but “[we’re] not rich yet” noted co-owner Brendan Carnes. The business opened last Tuesday, June 1st, 2008 with free food and drink to all visitors who came to browse the wide assortment of coins and paper money that adorn the display racks.

The Middletown Coin Connection is located inside the Towne Mall at the old Nextel suite, next to Goldstar Chili. This location has proved very successful because nearly all mall patrons must past it to visit other non-anchor stores in the mall. Carnes estimated that they had made over 25 sales since opening their doors, but that they also made over 25 purchases. “It’s not all about the sales” he noted, explaining that purchases were a big part of their business too and they were always looking for new inventory.

It’s not just coins and money their hunting for either; the Middletown Coin Collection states it specializes in: coins, paper money, precious metals, diamonds, and fine watches. “This piece in particular draws a lot of attention,” stated Carnes as he pointed to a $500 dollar bill. “Most people have never heard of a $500 dollar bill and ask if it is real."
