The city of Middletown is accepting bids on an improvement that will make Towne Boulevard safer, smoother and more retail friendly. The project involves minor widening of approximately 1/2 mile of Towne Blvd to achieve consistent lane configuration throughout the corridor. Numerous collisions have been occurring due to the confusion as to where to drive and where to turn.
Sidewalks will also be constructed to provide pedestrian traffic to cross at ST. RT 122. The project also includes pavement rehabilitation, ADA ramps, curb replacement, thermoplastic markings, retroreflective signage, retaining walls, catch basins and storm sewer upgrades.
This is a much needed improvement for Towne Boulevard. On a related note: I have no update on the Towne Mall at this time.
