MDF recently took delivery of its most recent ambulance remount. This unit started out as a 2003 Horton ambulance that had seen extensive front line and reserve service. During the remount process, the patient care box was removed from the old Ford chassis and modified to fit a new 2011 international cab and chassis. During the remount process, the patient box was completely stripped and refurbished. The final product looks and drives like a new unit and saved the city about 30% as compared to a new unit. This unit brings the total number of remounts the Fire Division has purchased to five, saving the city approximately $250,000 as compared to new. The finished product is pictured below:
