Beginning in 1983, St. Paul’s members opened their building to the Adult Education program for day and evening classes. According to Rose Marie Stiehl, Adult Education Principal, St. Paul’s supported the program through the energy crunch, recession, three different ministers, new boards… the list is endless. Through those years, no money, not one penny, ever passed to the church.”
The grant stated, “Stories of acts of kindness from the church to students in need have been shared over the twenty-five years. They provided transportation, medicine, gas, and food.
Their support hasn’t been just bricks and mortar. It has helped adults off the merry-go round of poverty and the helplessness of illiteracy. ”As one of the letters of recommendation stated, “You can count on death, taxes…and St. Paul’s United Church of Christ!”
Stiehl, and Adult Education teachers Karen Rummler, Barb Flory, Mary Stewart, and Dorothy Place will be attending the recognition luncheon. Contact: Rose Marie Stiehl, Principal MCSD Adult Education, 513- 267-2220
