State of Ohio OKs SunCoke Job Tax Credit |

On Monday September 30, 2008 the Ohio Department of Development announced the Ohio Tax Credit Authority has awarded Middletown Coke Co., a subsidiary of SunCoke Energy Inc. of Knoxville, Tennessee a 10 year, 70 percent job creation tax credit for the opening of a new facility in Middletown.
The project is going to be $354 million. A heat recovery coke making and electric cogeneration plant is expected to employ up to 75 full-time employees within three years of the initial operations.
The neighboring AK Steel Corp.’s Middletown Works has a 20-year agreement with SunCoke. The agreement is to be the exclusive customer for the coke and electricity produced.
