Sunday, February 19 Worship Service to honor the four chaplains who gave their lifejackets to other soldiers and were seen praying as the Dorchester sank on Feb. 4, 1943 will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Middletown, Ohio. The four United States Army Chaplains -- Rabbi Alexander Goode, the Rev. George Fox, the Rev. Clark Poling and Father John Washington -- were among more than 200 soldiers who died Feb. 4, 1943. Services for the Four Chaplains are held in February throughout the nation.
The service is open to the public and a light luncheon will follow at the American Legion Post #218 on South Main Street following the worship service.
