The Sorg Opera Guild's Walk and 5 K Run on Sunday, October 17th at the Woodside Cemetery and Arboretum can win prizes for the entrants who raise the most money for their sponsors' favorite charities or non-profit organizations. The pot for those named will be split with the Sorg Opera Guild.
First prize for most money raised by a walker or runner will be two Ohio State-Indiana football tickets to the game on Saturday, October 23rd, a $114 value. Additional monetary prizes will be given for others with lesser top money amounts raised. Prizes also will be given for answers found on the Veteran's Memorial quiz. Deb Morrison and Sam Ashworth are in charge of this.
The walk has routes of 1/4, 1/2, 1 and 1-1/2 miles for a total of 3-1/4 miles. A walker can walk any or all or over as many times as desired. A walker can choose to walk anytime between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. and the entrant can sponsor himself and sponsors may pay on number of miles walked or a flat fee.
The 5 K Run will start at 1:30 p.m. and runners are eligible to win the prizes mentioned.
Entry fees are $10 for adults and $5 for adults 60 years or older and for students of any age.
Handicapped persons in wheelchairs and carts are welcome in the walk. Sorry, pets are not allowed.
Entry cards will be at the Sorg Opera Office at 65 S. Main Street, Middletown or other locations to be announced or may be copies from e-mail and other sources. The cards will be brought the day of the event.
