Michael Tilton was sworn in by the Butler County Commissioners on March 5, 2008 to replace Kay Rogers who resigned in February. He is serving as interim Butler County Auditor.
Mr. Tilton is performing the duties of this position until a replacement has been appointed by the Butler County Republican Party.
Tilton has already proposed a plan which calls for 14 employee buyouts at a cost of $564,200. That came as a surprise to at least one Butler county commissioner, Donald Dixon.
The screening for a new county auditor will start April 12. That will give the 260-member committee
six days to select an auditor.
Several names have been mentioned as replacements:
Butler
County Treasurer Nancy Nix
Ohio State Rep. Courtney Combs
Liberty Township fiscal
officer Roger Reynolds
Miami University faculty member Bob Weber.
Reynolds and Weber have run for the auditor's seat in the past.
The new auditor will have to go up for election in November and, if
successful, would run again two years later.
