This summer “Safety Town” will celebrate 35 years of pre-school safety education in the Middletown Community. Children that attend will learn about pedestrian, vehicle and school bus safety, as well as dealing with strangers and fire safety.
Officer Phil Salm of the Middletown Division of Police will be teaching the sessions, which include classroom instruction, videos and driving pedal cars in a simulated town in the gymnasium. The children are also fingerprinted for parents. Thursday is a two hour day for the children to take a school bus trip to the fire department where they visit the fire safety house. The week ends with a graduation ceremony. Graduation begins approximately 45 minutes before the end of class and you are welcome to take videos and photographs on that day. Doors open 10 minutes before class times.
Safety Town will be located at Amanda School, on Oxford State Road. Please enter through Door D on the east side of the school. Please note the July 10-14 class will be offered Tuesday through Saturday.
SAFETY TOWN IS ONLY OFFERED TO CHILDREN ENTERING KINDERGARTEN.
Beginning Monday, May 7, you may call the Safety Council of Southwestern Ohio at 513-423-9758 to register your child. Sessions are assigned on a first call basis. Please mark your calendar when you call because no reminders are sent.
