SACKS NAMED HONORARY CHARITY BALL CHAIRS
Frances and Dan Sack have been named honorary chairs of the 90th annual Charity Ball to be held
on Friday, December 3 in the Great Miami Room at The Manchester Inn & Conference Center in downtown Middletown sponsored by the Middletown Area Federation of Women’s Clubs.
Frances, a native of Knoxville TN and graduate of Miami University with a BS in education, taught as a substitute in Middletown City Schools for eight years. A professional fund raiser since 1987, she has worked for several non-profit agencies and is currently employed as Capital Campaign Director for Otterbein Homes.
Dan,with an undergraduate degree from the University of Cincinnati and a Masters Degree from Xavier University, was commissioned a 2nd Lt in the US Army, and spent a tour of military duty in Vietnam. He was a 24 year employee of Armco Steel Company, retiring as Manager of Public Affairs. He has been a professional facilitator since 1992, a member of The Cumberland Group and president of OmniCom Solutions Groups, Inc which includes The Fourth R, a computer training program.
Both of the Sacks are heavily involved in leadership roles with community projects. A few of Fran’s volunteer projects are Atrium Medical Center Auxiliary, Middletown Symphony Women’s Assn, Middletown Convention and Visitors Bureau, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and Charity Ball past-chair. Both have won several community awards. Dan was given the Middletown United Way Angel award. Fran was named Butler County YWCA Woman of Achievement and West Chester Woman of Excellence awards.
Dan’s volunteer activities include TV Middletown Board, Workforce Investment Board of Butler/Warren/Clermont Counties, Middletown Area United Way, Downtown Partnership, Charter Review Committee, Veterans Business Advisory Council, Knights of Columbus and Middletown Community Foundation.
The Sacks often work as a team on community projects such as: Fenwick Festival, John XXIII Elementary School, Middletown Bicentennial, US National Hot Air Balloon Festival and MidFirst Ohio Challenge, Holy Family Parish, Middfest International and Chamber of Commerce.
Charity Ball will begin with cocktails and holiday music at 6 pm provided by Marilyn Ifcic in the main lobby of the hotel, followed by a sit down dinner at 7 pm with dancing until midnight. Cost is $50 per person or $100 per couple; contributing as a Grand Patron $150, includes dinner and dancing for two and a listing in the program College age students may attend evening festivities at the Junior Patron admission of $25. To celebrate the 90th year of Charity Ball sponsorship, funds raised from this year’s ball will benefit the newly established Middletown Area Federation of Women’s Clubs Endowment providing funds for Women’s Health Needs. This program provides funds for women’s health screenings, tests and initiatives for those women who do not have health coverage or can’t afford necessary treatment.
Women’s Health Needs service is offered at the Atrium Medical Center, Premier Health Campus-Middletown.
The Middletown Area Federation of Women’s Clubs donations will likely exceed the $100,000,000 mark of total funds they have contributed to various projects since the first dance was held on December 27, 1921 at the Elks Temple that was located on Main Street in 1920. That first dance netted $678.95.
