The workshop is part of a series being held across Ohio by Richard Cordray, Ohio Treasurer of State, in conjunction with Consumer Credit Counseling Service and Trans Union.

According to Butler County Treasurer Nancy Nix whose office is responsible for bringing this event to Butler County, “Many Butler County families are in financial crisis facing foreclosures caused by high mortgage payments, predatory lending practices, delinquent taxes, adjusted rate mortgages and other financial issues. They are not alone. Ohio is now ranked #1 in the nation for the number of foreclosures on family homes.”
Across the state, 34 of the 88 counties have begun education and counseling programs to provide assistance to the affected families. Butler County’s new Treasurer, Nancy Nix, is bringing these state-wide efforts to Butler County and is asking the Butler County agencies already doing similar programming to join her in the effort to help Butler County residents find a way out of the financial jungle.
The Rebuild Your Credit workshop is a result of a meeting held with Butler County agencies dealing with financial issues in November. Other efforts are planned to join those who need assistance with those offering assistance in Butler County.
