In a special meeting of the Middletown Planning Commission on Wednesday, March 26th, the commission was unanimous in their decision to recommend rezoning of the land in South Middletown proposed as the site for a new SunCoke energy plant. Over a hundred people were in attendance from both Middletown and Monroe, whose border the plant will sit on.
Trial Litigator Frank Schiavone, pictured left outside the Middletown City Building, lives in and owns property 800 feet from the proposed site, and does not want to see the plant built there. Stating that "There was no discussion!", he and many other area residents left the meeting apparently unhappy with the outcome. Schiavone has also stated that the effort to keep the coke plant out will likely be taken up in the courtroom and with the Ohio EPA.
