ADVISORY FOR CITIZENS OF MIDDLETOWN

·        Please be reminded, there is no open burning of yard debris, do not leave candles unattended.

·        All residents are encouraged to contract with local landscaping or tree trimming companies to remove debris caused by Sunday’s wind storm.  Rumpke will also be collecting brush during normal curbside collection activities.

·        Residents can haul debris to Mulch Plus, 2864 Cincinnati-Dayton Road, Middletown for $10 for a pick up truckload.

·        The City is working on making arrangements for a free drop off for debris, more details to follow.

·        Level 1 has been declared for the City of Middletown and Butler County tonight.  Please exercise extreme caution when traveling.

·        As power resumes, assume any down wire is live.  To report down wires in Middletown, contact the Middletown Police Department at 425-7700 or Duke Energy at 513-651-4182 or 513-651-4466

Rumpkie WILL NOT pick up tree limbs an such unless it it less than 4 feet long, tied and is less than 50 pounds. I stood side by side to a rumpkie collector that said this. His reply is that your city department will do this. There is a dead animal in front of my neighbors house. Called the city and was told they din't have no one to do it and to do it myself. How much more tax money do you want for animal control?

I would like to post this comment about how the traffic situation was handled in Middletown at some of the traffic lights around town. I realize the whole situation with the high winds was unpredictable, and took everyone by surprise. But I do feel that the local police should have a certain amount of professionalism and display at least some self control when attempting to direct traffic. The cop that was in control of one of the intersections was completely out of control, and had no knowledge of what traffic was coming or going. She was heard by myself and my wife screaming like a kid and throwing profanities out at the cars that were obviously confused by her direction of the traffic.

There should have been an officer here at this busy intersection with a little more control over the situation. It was an accident waiting to happen, and I didn't appreciate the disrespect that was displayed by this officer. She clearly caused more confusion for the motorists than what was already there. I had my children with me in the car, and they heard every word of disrespect coming from this "officer of the law." I had to EXPLAIN to them that "NO", cops are not supposed to act like that or talk like that to people, and that conversation should have not been necessary. If we want our children to respect the people that uphold the law, then they should be held at the higher standard and be mindful of how they conduct themselves in a bad situation.

I would like to add some postscript here to the comments about the traffic direction from the police dept. that was posted here. I live in this general area of where this intersection was, and I have to conclude that as I was attempting to cross the street with my daughter, I witnessed pretty much the same thing, watching this woman who was supposed to be a "protector of the people" cursing and screaming at the cars passing by. It doesn't matter if they situation was chaotic or not, there should be some sense of responsibility with this position, and knowing how to handle a circumstance such as this. It's not amusing or funny when things like this cause a serious accident. I intend to file a formal complaint with the city due to this incident, and I as I am obviously not the only resident that sees it this way.
