MIDDLETOWN, OHIO, Jan. 8, 2004 — Middletown Regional Hospital executives are pleased to announce the finalization of the land purchase for a new health and technology campus. After having the land under contract while completing due diligence, the hospital is now prepared to close on the property. The site is located northeast of the Union Road and State Route 122 intersection about a quarter mile east of Interstate 75 in an area removed from commercial and residential development. The property closing will take place tomorrow. The first phase of the 200-acre campus will include a new hospital, an attached professional office building, a cancer center and the Greentree Health Science Academy. The new facility will enable the hospital to add new programs and expand the scope and sophistication of many current services, including cardiology, trauma, oncology and surgery. The new site also means expanded parking, increased convenience for hospital patients and their guests and greater access to state-of-the-art health and physician services.
"We are extremely pleased to complete this step," states Douglas W. McNeill, president and CEO of Middletown Regional Health System. "During the past year, we've accomplished a great deal, including engineering, site planning, environmental and space planning for the new facility. In 2004, we will complete work on schematic design, design development, construction documents and the finalization of clinical, programmatic, capital and other partnerships. Once these partnerships are completed, we will be prepared to discuss the full scope of the project."
Groundbreaking for the new facility is expected in the first quarter of 2005. The hospital is expected to open in the first quarter of 2008.
