The MidFirst Ohio Challenge is not just about hot air and corporate exposure for sponsors. The primary sponsor of the event held recently in Middletown, also helped to raise funds for The Cure Starts Now.
A $1 per chance wheel of fortune at the MidFirst Credit Union booth at the event not only yielded $500 to the Cure Starts Now charity, but provided prizes to the winners courtesy of balloonist Dr Mark Frazer and David Hart of Team Fastrax Skydiving.
The connection to The Cure Starts Now began when six-year-old Elena Desserich and her family visited the event and were treated to a special access tour. From that grew a lasting connection to help raise funds for children’s brain cancer research.
In fact, two other young girls won the top prizes on the wheel. A little girl named Samantha Jenia who lives in South Carolina, came with a family group from Maryland to win the tandem skydive and decided to give it to her father as an early birthday present. Teenager Katie Henry won the balloon ride.
Many non-profit organizations benefit from the MidFirst Ohio Challenge event, but this one holds a special place in the hearts of the organizers and MidFirst Credit Union employees.
