On Saturday, August 1st, 2009 at Big Shots Bar located at 1701 Germantown Road, in Middletown, The Riverside Jam Band will perform to raise money for Middletown’s Aviation Foundation. The group is a consortium of 22 musicians from six states including Ohio, Illinois, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia and Massachusetts.
Riverside Jam is an annual event started in 2000 by Pennsylvania residents Dan and Laura Lasley, who invited a few college friends over to their home for a summer jam. The group now comprises over three dozen members from eight states and the event now moves around the country, hosted by a different member each year. The Middletown Aviation Foundation is the sponsoring organization for a variety of aviation-based events at Middletown Regional Airport
“In spite of the economic circumstances, we continue to organize and sponsor aviation-related events at Middletown Airport. These events not only raise the awareness of aviation but also highlight the positive contribution this airport has on the community and surrounding areas. The money raised at Riverside Jam will give us a little more operating capital with which to plan additional events in 2010,” says MAF chairman and airport manager Rich Bevis.
Other events at Hook Air Field include an upcoming model air show on August 8, 2009 That is event is sponsored by the Miami Valley Radio Control Club and the Middletown Air Port. For more information you can view their flyer below.
The Middletown Air Port at Hook Field also has a nice Hobby Room where you can find just about anything dealing with model and radio control air planes.
