Photo and Interview By:Randy Lewis
When did you open your studio?
I opened the business here as a full time photography Studio in 1995, but before that I was working with photography out of my home, and as a freelance photographer for 20 years before that; while I was general Foreman of the ARMCO main Machine shop.
Have you been at that location the entire time?
The studio at this location took on the name" Echoes of Light fine Photography" from Bob Thomas photography in 1996, we have the distinction of being The ONLY " Echoes of light Fine Photography" in the United States, when we found that to be a fact we had the name trademarked just so we would be the original, that took two years!
Do you own and operate the business?
I do own and operate the business; I only use casual help on occasion, as assistant photographers while working large assignments, and support personnel to assemble packages when we do large sports leagues. I do not process the final prints as the two professional labs we use do so much better, and they print everything we do as a quality product on Kodak paper that has archival registry good for many years; some studios are now doing there own printing on ink jet printers to keep the cost down, these only will last a very few years.
What are all the different services Echoes of Light offer do, you do weddings and school events?
Echoes of Light is committed to doing quality work as all our work is guaranteed completely, and we also have a commitment to keeping the cost down; we do a lot of work in many fields so by staying busy we have enough clients to constantly make a profit and not overcharge anyone for our services. We do a lot of Sports leagues, day care centers, Families, High school seniors, pets, and just Kids we have decided not to do anymore weddings as I am just burned out with that type of photography and if its not fun anymore I just don't do it!
How do like your location?
I love my location as we own the property and it is quite large so we have ample room to have unique scenes on the property for all types of work. The property is within one mile of my home, so the drive time is short; over 6,000 cars go past the property every day so a lot of people get to see the studio.
