On May 30, 2009 Rittenhouse Senior Living will celebrate the birthday of its oldest resident and one of the oldest people in Middletown. Maycelle Stephens will turn 101.
Maycelle moved to Middletown in 1982 and lived in Trinity apartments until last year, when she moved in to Rittenhouse Senior Living. MiddletownUSA.com met with Maycelle and her family to talk about her life and her upcoming birthday.
She was born in 1908 in Pittsburg, and came to Middletown to be closer to her grandchildren of which she has four along with five great grandchildren. Maycelle spent most of her life working in the industrial supply field. She told MiddletownUSA.com “I credit my long life to two glass of red wine a day and not taking any prescription drugs.”
These days Maycelle enjoys watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy but those two shows play second to sports. Being from Pittsburg Maycelle is a huge football fan and even played golf with former Steelers quarter back Terry Bradshaw.
Ray Stephens, Maycelle’s son, and his wife Marianne visit her often and still bring her some wine (non-alcoholic, but she doesn’t know that). He told MiddletownUSA.com that Maycelle loves to play Bridge and years ago she would drive all over Middletown no matter the weather to play.
On behalf of MiddletownUSA.com Happy Birthday Maycelle.
