Middletown Police Division
On Thursday, July 5th, the police department received a call of a burglary in progress on Erie Avenue. The resident returned home and saw a man climbing out of a window in his home. The resident called the dispatch center and reported that the suspect fled on a bicycle. Detectives Swartzel, Bush, Hoover and McIntosh were in the area following up on another case and, upon hearing the call, set up a perimeter, trapping the suspect in the area of Hook Field. Detectives Swartzel and Bush spotted the suspect and took him into custody. They found a needle, some heroin and the checkbook from the resident on Erie on the suspect, who was from Norwood and had been staying in a vacant house in the area. Good job, detectives!
