The Division of Police had a three day jury trial this week on Riccardo Renfro. Riccardo was the last of the trio to be convicted for robbing and killing Randy Manis on August 9th, 2010. Renfro was sentenced to 15 years to life for the slaying. Previously Phillip Plat was convicted and sentenced to 15 to life for his part in the crime. Keri Kakaris will be sentenced this week for her role in the incident.
Det. Rogers received a conviction this week on Demetrius Chisley who plead guilty to Aggravated Robbery. Demetrius robbed the Lefferson Food Mart on December 30th, 2010. Det. Rogers circulated photos of the suspect from the surveillance camera. Several people identified Demetrius Chisley as a possible suspect. Det. Rogers put together an excellent case and Demetrius was convicted and sentenced to 9 years in prison in Butler County Common Pleas Court. Chisley was a repeat offender who is well known to the police department.
These convictions were big for our department and our city in our ongoing goal to make Middletown a safer place.
