Middletown Middie Youth Basketball

by Rodney Mutterspaw

Middie Youth Basketball has competitive teams for boys and girls in grades 3-6. The Metro program provides an opportunity for the boys and girls to play teams of the same age group from around the area. The Metro teams will practice 2-3 times a week and play 20 regular season games plus several tournaments during the season.

Players will tryout in October for the Metro teams. Tryouts will be over a two day period and teams will be selected soon after that. Each player will be placed on one of their grade teams. There will be two or three teams per grade (Middletown Purple, White and Black). Practices will start in November, with the first Dayton Metro League games to be played in early December. The season will run until early March.

This is a highly competitive program. There is no guaranteed playing time for any player and parents may not choose which team their son or daughter will be on. Those decisions are made by program directors and coaches. Second graders may try out for the third grade team.

The program includes:
• 8-10 players per team
• 2-3 practices per week at a Middletown elementary school
• Home and away uniform
• 20-25 game schedule (half home and half away)
• End of year league tournament
• End of the year league banquet

Cost: $95 per player – due by the end of November (no exceptions)

Metro League Members: Springboro, Trotwood, Centerville, Lebanon, Dakota Swish, Northmont, Xenia, Fairborn, Madison, Valley View, Franklin, Bellbrook, Eaton, Carlisle, Oakwood, Tipp City, Troy, West Carrollton, Huber Heights, Alter, Team Dayton, Monroe, Dayton Grizzlies, South Dayton Knights, Mad River, Kettering, Enon, Northridge, Troy Christian and Brookville
.
