Kiwanis is a global organization dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time. “Kiwanis” means “we trade” or “we share our talents,” it was coined from an American Indian expression, Nunc Keewanis.
Kiwanis is very popular in Middletown, Ohio. Some of the activities going on in November for the Kiwanis are the program chairman Bob Morehead will be presenting Duane Gordon who is the Executive Director of the Middletown Community Foundation. Trish Witters the program chairwoman will be presenting Mike Rudolph the new Lt. Governor where he will discuss his goals for the year and how the Kiwanis fits in with them.
There are about 8,000 clubs in 96 countries. There are more than 260,000 adult members and 320,000 youth members involved in Kiwanis. The mission of the Kiwanis is to serve the children of the world.
Each year different clubs sponsor nearly 150,000 service projects. They also raise more than $107 million. Members and clubs have contributed more than $80 toward the global elimination of iodine deficiency disorders (IDD), which is the leading preventable cause of mental retardation.
