An activity fair will held at Middletown High School on August 18, 2008 in the auditorium at 6:00 pm. The purpose for this event is to introduce incoming freshmen other new students and their parents, to the many opportunities Middletown High School has to offer,” said Derrick Richardson, MHS Assistant Principal and event organizer. This is a chance to learn about the over thirty clubs, activities, and sports teams that are available at Middletown High School, he added. It is an opportunity to meet with advisors and coaches and get information about programs such as: criteria for joining, academic expectations, and meeting/practice times, for all activities throughout the school year.
There will be time to ask the advisors and coaches various questions you may have. Students will be able to sign up to participate in activities at the fair. The agenda for this event includes an introduction of administrators, a short presentation by MHS Principal Dennis Newell, and performances by the Middie band, the MHS cheer squad, and the MHS Purple Pizzazz.
Students and parents will be able to visit informational booths and a take a tour of the school. “In order for the freshmen and their parents to get the most out of the activity fair they should make sure to ask questions and visit as many booths as possible,” said Richardson. “New students should also talk to the mentor students who will be in attendance,” he added.
