The Division I doubles title was won by Middletown junior Patrick Hamning and sophomore Michael Cole, who defeated St. Xavier senior John Drosick and junior Jonathan Gaffney 6-2, 7-5.
"From the beginning, I knew they would be good (together)," Middletown coach Tyrone Turner said. "... Their work ethic this year was amazing."
Said Cole: "When we started to playing doubles together at sectionals, we really just seemed to click."
It is the first boys' tennis state title for Middletown since Matt Pledger won singles in 1993.
It is Middletown's first boys' doubles championship since Walter Beatty and Dave Harrington in 1960.
"Words can't describe (the feeling of a state title)," Hamning said. "It's insane."
