The Board of Trustees of the Middletown CVB announced itıs annual grants to 19 Middletown area organizations totaling $60,000.
The Convention and Visitors Bureau makes grant awards each year to non-profit groups presenting programs and events that draw visitors to Middletown from outside the area. Grant money is to be used for advertising purposes to attract visitors to Middletown.
Grant money is taken from the CVBıs operating budget. A 3% bed tax is collected by the Middletown hotels on each room rental. A portion of the collected bed tax is channeled through the City of Middletown to the CVB.
Those receiving grants are:
MidFirst Ohio Challenge $8,300 Annual hot air balloon event held in July at Smith Park.
Light Up Middletown $4,510 Annual holiday drive-through light display in Smith Park.
Middfest International $6,650 Annual international celebration featuring a different country each year.
Whims $1,220 An event held to raise awareness of womenıs health issues
Middletown Aviation Foundation Corporation $7,100 ³Wings of Freedom² airshow to be held at Hook Field in September.
Art Central Foundation $4,200 Events held in the Art Central District of downtown Middletown.
Blues & Bikes $1,900 Annual charity event featuring a blues concert and motorcycle ride.
Middletown Arts Center $4,850 Year-round art classes, workshops and exhibits
Middletown Symphony $2,050 Annual concert series held at Finkelman Auditorium
United Missionary Church $ 710 Gospel concert and comedy show held at Finkelman Auditorium
Sorg Opera Company $3,640 Concert series featuring opera and musical theater
Greek Orthodox Church $1,685 Greekfest, annual festival celebrating Greek culture and heritage
Middletown Antioch Shrine Club $ 885 Annual car show held at Smith Park in May
Middletown Performing Arts Academy $2,550 Provides musical and theatrical education and performance opportunities
Middletown Civic Chorus $ 505 Annual presentation of Handelıs ³Messiah² at First United Methodist Church
Middletown Pee Wee Football Club $1,400 Two-day tournament event held at Douglass Park
Middletown Youth Soccer $4,925 Spring Blast tournament in March and Midfest Soccer Classic in October
Middletown Lyric Theatre $2,095 Annual community theatre series
Middletown Historical Society $ 825 Promotion of African-American History Museum
