MIDDLETOWN, OHIO----- Middletown Convention and Visitors Bureau (MCVB) will be awarding grants to assist local non-profit organizations presenting events and performances in Middletown. Grants are to be used for marketing and promotion purposes targeted to audiences outside Middletown.
Groups wishing to apply for grants should submit an application by 5 pm February 29 by email at sam41@cinci.rr.com or by mailing to Middletown Convention and Visitors Bureau, P.O, Box 1245, Middletown, OH 45042.
All grant applicants may verbally present their Case for Support to the CVB Board Members on March 11 at 4 pm at the Middletown City Building in the 2nd floor conference room.
Sam Ashworth, president of the MCVB board said, “Our mission is to directly impact the Middletown economy by assisting local groups and businesses that bring new entertainment and hospitality industry dollars into Middletown. Visitors who buy admission tickets to local events, eat in local restaurants, stay in Middletown hotels, shop in retail stores or buy gasoline all add to the Middletown economy. Their purchases support local businesses and organization and taxes on those purchases help state and local governments. Local hotel and motel bed tax dollars support the services provided by the MCVB.
The Middletown CVB board will make the grant awards once in 2008. This is a change in past year’s when grants were awarded twice during the year. The board made this change in 2007 when it was determined that it would help area non-profit groups with their planning of marketing and promotion of their events to know what funds they had available for this purpose.
The grant application form is available online at the new MCVB corporate website , at the Chamber of commerce office or by calling 513-422-4010.
