Middletown Area Veterans Memorial to be dedicated
At 1:00 pm on Sunday, July 4, 2004, a new Veterans Memorial will be dedicated at Woodside Cemetery in Middletown, Ohio. The result of a three-year planning and fundraising effort, the memorial honors all veterans from the Middletown area who have served in our armed forces in times of peace and war. Special recognition is given to those who paid the ultimate sacrifice while serving their country.
The focal point of the memorial, designed by Eric Fogerty of Doods Monuments, Inc., is a 53 foot long curved wall of black granite panels, on which are laser etched images of military actions from our country’s history. The images are from the collection of nationally known artist Mort Kunstler. A resident of Oyster Bay, New York, Kunstler has been painting American historical subject matter for over 40 years. His paintings have been featured in prestigious galleries in New York City and have been published in several books.
