On Friday October 17th will be the 61st renewal of the Hamilton-Middletown football rivalry. This is the first time since 1997 that both teams have had winning records win they play each other. Both teams have a chance to win a league championship this year. Middletown which is now (5-3 overall, 4-1 Greater Miami Conference) and Hamilton (5-3 overall, 3-2 GMC.)
For the Big Blue the last GMC title they got was in 1997 and the Middies was in 1990. The game is very important for both teams to win so they can get better playoff opportunities. Jim Place who was also Middletown’s coach when they won their GMC title in 1990 is now Hamilton’s coach.
It has been a tough week for the Middies. Last weekend they lost to Lakota West 34-7 and to add to it there much appreciated and loved equipment manager James Brown passed away on Sunday so it would mean a lot to the team if they could pull through to win.
Middletown has better averages compared to Hamilton with averaging 402.1 yards and 36 points per game. While Hamilton averages 185.1 yards and 13.5 points.
