Middies Basketball Ranked 9th In the State |

The Middletown High School Boys Basketball team is now ranked No. 9 in the state. This was on an Associated Press Poll of the season that was released on January 12th. The Middies who are now 9-1 got a total of 73 points and received one first-place vote.
Middies coach Bob Ronai is hoping to keep his team in the top 10 for the whole season. As long as they keep up the momentum. In 1975 was the last time the Middies have been ranked in the poll that year they were No. 1 in Division AAA. Middletown has won seven state championships. They were in 194, 1946, 1947, 1952, 1956, and 1957.
Bill Edwards Jr a senior on the basketball team leads the Middies with averaging 17.6 points and 9.6 rebounds per game. Another leader on the team is Allen Roberts who averages 14.7 points a game. For the Middies next game they will travel to Princeton and then host Oak Hills on Friday night.
Also in the D-III poll Madison who is 8-1 is ranked 13th with 44 points. Coach Jeff Smith is excited about that and wants to keep up what they are doing and earn their respect. Madison is led by Matt Houser averaging 13.7 points per game.
