Marion’s Piazza, a popular Dayton-based pizza chain, is opening a restaurant in a new location. Marion’s opens its ninth restaurant for the pizza chain and the first restaurant in the northern Cincinnati area in Mason, Ohio.
The Mason location will employ about 50 people and seats about 520, including a 100-seat private banquet room and 70-seat patio, in the 11,000-square-foot pizzeria. The Mason Marion’s will also offer carry out service.
Due to their daily delivered fresh supply of dough and other ingredients, Mason was an attractive location because it is close enough to the company’s Dayton-based commissary to product. Furthermore, Mason is also far enough from the other Marion’s Piazza locations not to compete with them for business.
The 47-year-old chain also recently opened another location in February in Troy. Troy and Mason were good locations for expansion due to their populous, economically successful areas with a solid base of industry and other developments.
The new Mason Marion’s grand opening will be on Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m. The hours of the restaurant will be 10:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10:30 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday.
Marion’s CEO Roger Glass calls this a “test store” for the Dayton pizza company. He explained that it is out of the company’s “comfort zone.” With pizza making up for 85 percent of the company’s sales, Marion’s will rely on its thin Dayton-style pies, cut into bite-sized squares opposed to slices, to drive their profit. Their other sales include salads, lasagna and spaghetti.
Glass says that he has no further plans in the near future to open additional locations, and he will “probably relax for a couple of months after opening Mason.” Marion’s employs 275 in the Dayton area and sells over 1 million pizzas per year.
So come and enjoy the pizza voted Dayton’s best pizza at 6176 Soundwave Blvd at the intersection of Tylersville Road and Snider Road in Mason.
