Local Author Ann Mort Publishes Third Travel Book on CD
Wednesday, February 6, 2008 5:10:24 PM - Middletown Ohio

by Ann Mort

Veteran travel writer, Ann Mort has produced a third travel book –this time in CD format.  Great Little Getaway Tours, contains information on day trips, weekend trips, three-week tours and “dash to the destination” trips. The CD contains 157 Getaway options in 142 pages of photos, maps, website links and suggestions from someone who has been to every one of the places mentioned.

As Mort’s readers know, she tells it straight—the attractions worth seeing and those best left off the to-do list.  It is an easy-to-use format for those who want quick information and some idea of what they can see along the way to a chosen destination.

Slip the CD into the desktop computer, traveling laptop or book reader and browse the pages of the book produced in Adobe Reader style –a program on almost everybody’s computer these days.

Browse the index and put a page number or name of a city or attraction into the “find” box to locate a chosen place to visit or click through the pages to read the listings.  For those who like a large print book – just enlarge the size on the screen.  Find an interesting trip and read the impressions of one who has actually “been there and done that.”  Click on the website for that particular place to see the latest updates. Print the pages pertinent to a chosen trip rather than carry an entire book along. Slip the CD into the luggage instead.

Vacation tours or day trips begin in the middle of the Midwest – Middletown, Ohio, half way between Cincinnati and Dayton-- but can just as easily begin from the reader’s hometown.

Ann Mort is a resident of Middletown, Ohio. She is a wife, mother, grandmother and active community volunteer. She shares her tips on the great, and the not so great, places she has traveled throughout her careers as librarian, magazine co-publisher, writer and editor, public relations professional, elected official, radio talk show host, and former director of the Middletown Convention and Visitors Bureau. Now semi-retired, she is even more eager for travel adventure and remains interested in peeking behind the scenes or finding the unusual twist on the usual travel experience.

Other publications by Ann Mort:  Good News Magazine, In-Town Magazine, Shopping the Super-Slab: I-75, Great Little Getaways , How to Run for Public Office and How to Run a Fundraising Festival.

The $18 publication “Great Little Getaways Tours” book/CD is available at Middletown locations-- Java Johnny’s  MidTowne Café, Beau Verre Riordan Stained Glass Studio and Middletown Arts Center.  The CD/Book is also currently available on eBay using PayPal.  Mail orders should be sent to ABS Publishing Co, 4935 Riverview Ave, Middletown, OH 45042. Include check or money order  for $18 per copy plus $1.75 postage per copy.
